The Balm and Essence

What's Up!!

Hey guys :) So today's post is all about some of the new products that have landed in my hands. Also featuring me new hair! I got my hair done at Teagan & Beau, I throughly recommend them. These two Westie girls that I met were totally cool and super nice.

New Hair!

1. The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer.

This highlighter has been all the rage on social media from YouTube gurus raving about it to Insta MU artists paying their complements to this product.
And I personally am very impressed with how this highlighter compliments my chocolate skin.
It is very pigmented and a little goes a long way.

I got this highlighter from makeup.co.nz and they do this cool as thing where
you can pick up your order on the same day!

The next two products I got are from my girls - The A Team (Courtney, Paula and Courtney) they know me to well because I love the two lipsticks they gave me by Essence

2. The first lippy is a gorgeous red, in the shade 'Dare to Wear'.
This red is like a bright suitable red, with a slight orange undertone.

Essence Longlasting Lipstick- Dare to ware.

3. The second is very pretty pink, in the shade 'Wear Berries'.
This pretty pink is like a mutated fuchsia that can be worn everyday. I love this colour!

See you guys next week :)

Matte Lips

Hey guys!

Sorry I’ve been away for so long!
I’ve just been overwhelmed with exams, work and some family commitments.

But I’m back now!
Ya’ll miss me? HAHA!

On the Lips: Lime Crime 'Wicked'

So today’s post is a really short one in regards to: Matte Lipsticks.

The pro’s of wearing a matte lipstick to a dinner would be:
1.     It is very long lasting- Doesn’t budge.
2.     Vibrant colours are available.
3.     A little goes a long way.

However, the cons are:
1.     Some matte lipsticks are drying on the lips.
2.     Some may tend to show dry/died skin on and around your lips.
3.    Matte lipsticks dry quickly- which isn’t necessaryly a con but once
it sets there is no way you
will be able to move the lipstick. Unless you use a makeup remover of course.

Today I’ll be showing you the one and only matte lipstick
that I have and this is the:
Lime Crime Velvetine in the shade ‘wicked’.

Lime Crime is no longer available in NZ but you can order it straight from their website. There has been a scandal involving Lime Crime but I have no opinion on that matter since I purchased their product before the scandal.

Lime Crime Velvetine- In The Shade 'Wicked'.
Thanks to my girls Courtney, Paula and Courtney for my Artdeco
lipstick that they got me for my birthday. I used the two lip colours that are somewhat contrasting and complementary at the same time. For a more bold and dramatic look.

Artdeco Lipstick.

I used this lippy to try and do a ombre lip, going
from a deep red to shiny silver.
Sort of like the picture below:

Here's the finished look:

Nude Lips!

Hello everyone!
So today I had a play around with some of my nude lipsticks
that I got from Maybelline.
Just a disclaimer before I begin – I don’t wear nude lipsticks. I just can’t get it to look nice on my skin tone. But if you do want to try nude lipsticks check out Jackie Aina's video and BeautybyJJ who explain nude lipsticks for WOC (Women of Colour) so well.

Nude Maybelline Madness

So the first lippy I tried on was Maybelline’s Color Sensational
in the shade Honey Beige.
This lipstick was the ‘brownest’ of the batch.
The colour does look okay but because of my darker lips,
it throws the colour off a little bit.

Maybelline ColorSensation - Honey Beige

'Lust for Blush' looks very similar to 'Honey Beige'. This lipstick has a great formula and smells really nice. I’m still not to sure if the colour looks good on me though.

Maybelline Color Whisper - Lust for Blush

When (WOC) wear nude lipstick a lip liner is a must! I’ve got this lip liner from Ofra in one of my Lip Monthly bags. And this Maybelline Elixir lip-gloss
paired together = a wearable colour.

Maybelline The Elixir - Petal Plush
Ofra Lipliner - Silk

‘Warm me up’ was the last colour I tried on and it was by far the ‘pinkist’ in terms of colour however, it didn’t compliment me skin tone. The lipstick to me seemed like it dulled my makeup.
I also used the lipliner with this lipstick as well, to try and (sort of) prevent it looking like a hot mess.

Maybelline - Warm Me Up

Which lippy do you think looked the best?
What do you guys think of nude lipsticks? It is a very hot trend right now.
Have a blessed week ahead.

Until next time xx
